The CTA Second Chance Program is an initiative offered in conjunction with the City of Chicago and social service agencies throughout the city. Working closely with the Department of Family and Support Services, hard-to-place individuals are given an opportunity to obtain full-time employment and training which may enable a start of a long-term, meaningful career.
How to apply?
Jobseekers need to actively participate in one of the 13 designated agencies' work readiness programs. The CTA Second Chance program is in regular communication with the agencies listed below. The agencies' top participants are referred to CTA for the bus servicer and rail car servicer Second Chance positions.
Keep in mind that all positions at the companies listed are not available to ex-felons and of course the nature of the applicants’ particular conviction is always taken into consideration. What everyone must understand is, that even though these companies do not discriminate, they have a duty to hire the best person available. Every applicant must be able to compete for available positions.
MUCH SUCCESS!
HOW TO EXPUNGE /SEAL CRIMINAL RECORDS TO FIND A JOB
2/2017
Your criminal record can make it more difficult to get a job or rent an apartment. Employers and landlords may inquire about your criminal history but if you expunge your criminal records, you can honestly say that your record is clean.
The process of having your criminal records expunged will vary from state to state. This means the first step is to find out more about the process in your jurisdiction. there are many elements of the process that are similar from one state to the next.
We decided to put together some information that my staff & I researched and make it available to those in need for NO COST!
This may not go over well with websites that only give you crumbs, then want you to pay them a processing fee for the rest of the info or a site that is geared to refer you to Attorneys that charge thousands of dollars to fill out simple forms & file them on your behalf.
With the DIY's in many areas, there was a need to be one for this area to help those with a blemished background get a 2nd chance for work after they have served the time, been rehabilitated and paid their debt to society.
Here is a starting place for you to get a 2nd chance!
Find out whether you're eligible for an expungement.
Visit your state's courthouse or court website to find out what requirements you must fulfill. Since every situation is different, it can be difficult to determine whether your are eligible.
File a petition for expungement. Once you've determined that you're eligible, file a petition with the courthouse. You'll have to pay a fee or ask for a waiver if your are unemployed and you'll have to wait for the court to process your paperwork. In some states, you'll receive a hearing date immediately on which you'll meet with a judge to have your record expunged.
EXPUNGEMENT INFO:
(will be updated as more info is made available)
1.) GO TO the Chicago Police Headquarters 3510 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL
(312) 745-5508 to order your rap sheet if you were arrested in Chicago, the cost is $16. Next go to the Daley Center on the 10th Floor Room 1006 to file your papers and you will be given a court date for your case to be expunged. If you are unemployed and cannot afford the Circuit Clerk Filing Fee or the
Illinois State Police Processing Fee, you can ask the court
to waive them. You can find a fee waiver form, which can
be used to waive fees in expungement and sealing cases,
at: www.illinoiscourts.gov/forms/approved
Order criminal history information from the Illinois
State Police, Bureau of Identification. This is not
required, but if you want to make sure that you
have all of the arrests on your record, it may be
helpful.
You will need to complete a request form
and pay a fee ($16-$20 in 2015). There may be a
waiting period before you get your conviction
information.
NOTE: If you were arrested in Chicago only, you
should see if you can get all the information you
need from the Chicago Police Department before
contacting the Illinois State Police.
